The following projects require funding in
order to enable us to achieve our vision over the next few years:
In order to achieve our vision of developing a centre of excellence
in learner education and educator training our stock of classrooms and resource
facilities will obviously have to grow. We do understand that we need to adopt
a phased approach to doubling up on classes per grade. Our intention is to therefore
increase the Grades 1 and 2 to 64 learners each in 2005 split into 2 classes
of 32 learners per Grade. As the Grade 2 class progresses towards Grade 12 one
new classroom will be required each year.
Three building phases are required to accommodate the growing
class numbers, Phase 1 requiring completion in 2005. It is advisable that all
building programmes are undertaken during the drier winter months to prevent
delays and complications caused by rain.
Phase 1 requires completion
before January 2005 and comprises3 new classrooms and a toilet block. These
will be the first buildings situated on the senior school site.
Phase 2 requires completion
before January 2007 and comprises another 2 new classrooms, a science laboratory,
and a media centre and senior staff room. These will also be on the senior school
site.
Phase 3 will comprise 6 classrooms
with toilets, as the senior school reaches two classes per grade. A staff center
will also be required for the new administration requirements.

In order to be able achieve our vision of attracting and retaining
highly qualified experienced educators, we have to be able to provide suitable
accommodation for them and their families. The school currently accomodates
10 of our teachers in houses owned by the Nansindlela Education Foundation.
All the accomodation is for single teachers and no accomodation exists for families.
The reality that we face is that many experienced educators are married
with families and with our staffing requirement we are going to require additional
family housing immediately. We therefore envisage developing the Nansindlela
Education Foundation properties as soon as funds become available.

Nansindlela has recently installed computers throughout the
school in 2003. This obviously opens up a whole lot of knew resourcing opportunities
to the school and in particular the opportunity to introduce the children to
the information age. In 2004 we have begun computer classes with an integrated
curriculum from Grade 4 to Grade 11. The vision is for the learner to be computer
literate once they leave the school in Grade 12. Although we have some computers
in the classes we do have 11 computers in the library as a computer lab. We
are wanting to extend this to18 computers which will allow each pair of learners
to share a computer for the entire lesson.

It is the Nansindlela School Governing Body and Staff’s firm belief
that Nansindlela has a great future ahead of it. The school was founded upon
and is managed according to Christian principles and over the years God has
continued to demonstrate His support. It is now our belief that He will continue
to support the enlarged vision and we invite you to join us in extending a hand
of hope to this underdeveloped region of South Africa while at the same time
providing a wonderful opportunity for reconciliation within our divided society.
